Turtles seem to have so much figured out.  What a wonder it is to travel with a home on backs - to have the deep knowing that in any moment we can retreat into that sublime, confined, divine place of comfort and protection.  During times of great transition, when I know I may need that opportunity to remember I AM MY OWN HOME, I turn to Violet essential oil.  To look for security outside ourselves is nothing shy of madness.  There are too many moving pieces and uncertainties in the world at large, and so when we can have a sweet and tender refuge at our fingertips, we’ve no need for armor of any another kind.  

The beauty and wisdom of the turtle is that inside, it remains soft and tender and vulnerable.  Many of us feel we must fortify to the degree of hardening our hearts and bodies and bracing for the worst, and yet, that is the very thing that causes us to break.  Violet is a gift with so much wisdom and sensitivity, that this essence can simultaneously enliven our sense of strength so we can navigate the roughest times, and handle our hearts with the greatest of kid gloves.  She shows us how to unearth our oft forgotten capacity to self-soothe.  

My favorite way to start a day, that I know I am likely to face challenges in, is to place one drop of Violet in my black tea.  The smell, as I raise my cup to my nose and mouth, reminds me I am never alone.  The taste of gentle sweetness shows me I always have a friend with me and to be, above all, patient and kind with myself.  I place several drops on my heart, and I can face an auditorium full of nay-sayers from a place of peace and strength.   The knowing that I can make my way, slow and steady, with great sensitivity like the turtle, gives me hope.  It is said that Sea Turtles must have heightened receptors to lower frequencies for underwater hearing, and thus experience heightened stress with anthropogenic noises.  Some days I feel this way.  Too much human interference into my natural state, and I seek an element of protection- anything to dampen the cacophony of negativity.  Let Violet be the soft armor in your day, and retreat into your very own magic shell!
