THE DEEP RECESSES

Where things hide and long to be touched…. Where we let it all out….Superficiality leaves us wanting and our modern focus on quantity rather than quality creates more hunger.  We long for slow, deep, sensual and thorough - the things that bring satiety and meaning.  In our haste, of this lifestyle most of us have been drawn to, we are left longing to be touched deeply.  The most profound recesses within us have not been explored or loved or given attention, and SO much is in the detail.

An Ayurvedic practice I relish and admonish all to embrace, is to place ghee on the pinky finger and slowly rotate it inside the deep nasal cavity, to lubricate the delicate tissue and help release old, stuck emotions.  Doing so the other day, I couldn’t help but make the correlation with the way a skilled and present lover moves me to tears, where the watery flow from my eyes is not good, bad, right or wrong, but rather a celebration of movement, and being truly, deeply touched.

Remember the pure abandon we felt as a child, on the rare occasion we were gifted a double recess?!  That’s where we let it all out!  These things take time to build.  In the recesses of ourselves, are the darkest, most painful secrets and dis-ease, and the most delectable gems and releases, just beckoning.  When we can say:  “This too shall be loved!”…and mount our courage and patience and humility to get in and root around, we find what we are really hungry for.  My vow:  to deeply listen to myself and others, to slow down and relish the fullness and wholeness of myself and others, to love myself enough to ask for and receive another’s profound, penetrating presence and authentic desire to shine their brilliance into the core of me.

This cathartic release, I call rapture, be it in meditation, on the playground of life, or in my private chambers.  Yes to rapture.  Black Cardamom seed is not for the faint hearted.  This essence demands our full attention and her diversity and wondrous layers challenge and delight us in equal measure.  We use this essential oil for all manner of gastric upset, deep seated digestive disturbance, and all true heart disease.  She is beyond good, bad, right or wrong, and has a stellar capacity to both root us deeply into our shadows and shine as an aphrodisiac with no compare.  Sounds like recess to me, and all things worthwhile!
